What’s been happening in maths?
We have been doing lots of statistics in maths. We looked at
how many different vowels were in our first and last names. These are some of
the things that we noticed:
We also did an activity where we found out which was the
most common food in our lunch box. We enjoyed looking in our lunch boxes and
seeing all the different kinds of food. We then did some writing about what we
had found out.
We have also been doing place value. We have been making
numbers with the place value blocks and seeing how many ones, tens and hundreds
are in each number.
Blends
We have had a big focus on blends lately. This week we were
looking at CR, DR, FR, GR. Check out some of our blend activities:

BLAST OFF!
We all stood in a line and got to watch our rockets fly. We
then did some fabulous writing and tried to use some interesting words.
This week we started to learn our Maori numbers. We
practised how to count to ten in Maori and got to do several different activities
to help us learn.
Most of the time we do our handwriting in our books but some
of the time MR Class likes to use the iPads to practise their handwriting. This
is a cool app that shows us how to form our letters properly:
