Week 9 in MR

Writing:

We have been doing some writing about Thing 1 and Thing 2 from Dr Seuss. We started our stories off by saying “If Thing One and Thing Two came to my house….” We then published our stories with our neatest handwriting. We made little Thing 1 and 2’s by using our hand prints. Check out some of our publishing:

On Tuesday for Writing we wrote about Jelly! We were learning to use interesting words in our stories. We got to touch jelly, smell jelly, look at jelly and TASTE Jelly! We wrote some fantastic stories using describing words. Lots of people thought the jelly looked like a jelly pool, smelt like rose perfume and tasted like melted strawberry ice cream!

Topic:

We now have our Topic- 'Under the sea' all under way. We started off by sorting animals into different groups. We came up with SOOOO many ways to sort these animals. This linked in with our maths too!

Reading:

For reading this week we focused on our topic. We were all reading books about the sea. During class time we had follow up activities to complete about our stories. We made brochures, posters and charts about the sea.

Maths:

For maths this week we have been learning numbers that make 10! We know that
10 + 0
9 + 1
8 + 2
7 + 3
6 + 4
5 + 5 all make 10!!!!!
Some of us even learnt that if 9 + 1 = 10 then 90 + 10 = 100 , 60 + 40 = 100 etc
So lots of us now know ways to make 100 too!

This week some of us also had a go at spelling numbers properly on whiteboards. We should be able to read and write numbers correctly :-)

Discovery Wall:

So many people from MR Class have been doing extra work at home for the Discovery wall this week. Lots of children did some extra work about our topic. Take a look:

  1. Hi MR class. Tonight I have been enjoying your class blog. You are doing some wonderful work. I loved your rock pool pamphlets, they are very neat and full of interesting information. You are doing some great things at school and your learning looks like a lot of FUN. Thank you for sharing it with me.
