Last Tuesday we did some buddy reading with our big buddies. We read our buddies a story and then they read us a story. It was a nice and quiet time and we got to enjoy reading lots of awesome books!
Kia Ora and welcome to our class! We are lucky to have 22 friendly and intelligent Year 3 and 4 students in our class this year. Make sure you keep updated with all the exciting learning that is happening in MR for 2016!

Athletics
We have been practising hard for Athletics. So far we have practised shot put, hurdles and sprinting. Here are a few photos of us learning and practising some skills.
Maths
We have been practising our counting to 100. Here is a video that we have been counting to. We love getting fit while counting!

We have also been having a go at skip counting in twos, fives and tens. Check out this cool rap that we are giving a go!

We have also been using a game called "Park the Pod". This game is helping us to identify numbers and counting on and backwards to 100. Here is the link if you would like to have a play at home:

Swimming
We have just had our first week of swimming! We are all listening and trying super hard when we are in the water. On Thursday we made some individual swimming goals. Some of our goals were..
1. To be able to put my head under the water
2. To be able to float on my tummy and/or my back
3. To swim further than what I can already
4. To learn some different swimming styles
5. To breathe while I am swimming without stopping
We had many more goals too! I hope we can achieve them!

Start of the Year in MR
So far in MR....
We have had a great few weeks in MR Class. We have been
getting to know each other and finding out how we do things in MR. We have been
doing LOTS of fun activities to help us get to know each other.
We started off by making some Class rules so everybody feels
safe and included in MR Class. Having these rules means we can concentrate when
we do our work and it means we can learn lots of things!
We also read a book called “David goes to School” This book
is about a naughty little boy who needs some help in the classroom. We wrote
down a few things that we thought could help David from our own class rules. We
looked at our whole school rules also. We thought that might help David! We
also created some of our own David artwork.
As we have been getting to know each other, we have been
talking about what we might like to do when we grow up. We read the story “Oh
the places you’ll go” by Dr Suess. We wrote about what we want to be when we
grow up. We displayed them on the wall.
Our first lot of art work was creating self-portraits. We
had lots of fun doing this! Now whenever somebody walks into the classroom they
can see our portraits and know that we belong in MR.
For maths we have been focussing on Statistics. We have been
graphing and sorting information. It has been really cool because now we know
who our teacher from last year was, we know what house colour everyone is in, and
we also know who has brothers/sisters and lots more information!
