Our Winter Poems

This week we have been writing all about WINTER!

We read two winter poems. Then we wrote a poem as a whole class. After that we wrote our own winter poems. Miss Rowe was soooooo proud of us because they turned out amazing! We have put them up on our wall so that everybody can see our fantastic writing.

Our Milk Experiment

Riley- The food colouring swirled like a tornado. It rolled around the milk like a ball.

Jordan- It swirled together like a rainbow

Alana- The food colouring made different shapes in the milk. The milk was deep like a pool.

Freya- The colours all mixed together

Maia- I noticed that all the house colours were mixing together

Levi- The colours were moving around

Zoe- The colour was moving really fast when the dish washing liquid went in

Bucket Fillers

In MR Class we have been learning all about 'bucket fillers'

We want to make sure everybody feels comfortable and happy in MR Class so we want to fill BUCKETS!

We write little notes and pop them into our class friends buckets throughout the day. By doing this, we can make sure that everybody feels really good in MR Class.

We have three books in the classroom that describe who and what bucket fillers are... Come and have a read!

Netball Skills

We have been learning some new Netball skills over the past couple of weeks. We have learnt lots of different kinds of passes. I wonder if you can remember how to do the different passes and what the passes are called? We are looking forward to tomorrows session where we get to have a game of netball!

Matariki

Matariki

We have been learning all about Matariki in MR Class. We read a book called ‘Matariki’ that taught us lots of new information. I wonder if you can answer the questions from the story:

What is the name for the Maori New Year?

When do the stars appear and disappear?

What are the names of the seven stars?

What are some ways we can celebrate Matariki?

In MR Class we made kites to celebrate Matariki. Everyone brought in some items from home to stick on their kite. They turned out really neat!

We also made some goals to celebrate Matariki. We had a think about what we need to get better at. Miss Rowe gave us a little guidance to help us but we all got to choose our own goals. See if you can tell your parents and friends your goals.

The Fun Bus

This week for shared reading MR Class have been reading the book "The Fun Bus!"
We designed our own buses and then wrote some great descriptions about our bus. We were learning to use adjectives (describing words) in our writing. We also acted out the story and made our own fun bus in the classroom! Check out our movie here:

100 NIGHTS READING

A big congratulations to these three clever children in MR Class who have reached 100 nights reading! Wohooooo! What amazing readers you are!

Discovery Time

Our focus for Discovery time was all about being sensible and responsible. Here is what some of MR Class said about Discovery Time:

Alana- When I was building I worked hard finding all of the pieces.
Ciara- We were playing dolls and babies and I asked Kayla if she needed help and I helped her.
Max- When we were making Hokey Pokey I was listening and following instructions
Holly- I worked really hard and it was hard putting it all together
Riley- I was picking up all the shopping off the floor with baskets to help tidy up
Freya- When I made something with Zoe it was really hard to stick the buttons on the back but we did it
